Half-hour semi-private lessons run $50 each. Bookings take place on a monthly basis and payment is due at the beginning of the month. The facilities are all outdoors so, cancellations for inclement weather can occur. Lessons can be cancelled 24 hours in advance if there is a conflict. Summer camp runs weekly from June 22-Aug. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (there are also options for half days in the morning or afternoons) $455 per week. Mornings $375/week (a traditional lesson is included), afternoons $140/week (afternoons don’t include a standard riding lesson). Riding helmets and boots are required and the barn can provide by them if need be.

Offering lessons, trail riding, summer horsemanship programs, birthday parties (for three and up) in additional to leasing, sales and boarding; this family-run business dates to 1928. There are over 170 acres miles of continuous riding trails in Stamford and Greenwich that can be accessed from the farm. Learn everything from grooming to tacking in addition to riding. Lessons are $85 (for either ½ hour private, 45 minute semi-private, or 1 hour group) and can be bought in blocks of ten. Darien Parks and Recreation also offers horseback riding at Mead Farm.

This 75-year old full-year horsemanship program, offered to children between the ages of seven and 18, is a two day/week comprehensive equine care program in addition to weekly riding lessons. Groups of four to six children participate in one-hour lessons and a “barn day.” Equine Care the one day/week option, featuring caring for horses, barn chores, lectures and crafts minus the saddle time. This is the last surviving Junior Calvary of America unit, therefore riding is part of an overall leadership program which included rankings. Camp runs from June through August in one and two-week sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. four days a week. Cost is $100 registration fee and $900 for the two week camp. The club is celebrating its hundredth anniversary this year. Offering lessons everyday except Monday, the club is geared toward any level of rider, and has an introductory package of 10 lessons as an introduction to the barn. Camp take place each week of the summer from July 1 to Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Cost is $550/week for members of ORHC and $750/week for non-members.

Instruction offered year round at this private training facility that has both an indoor arena and several outdoor rings and can accommodate everyone from beginners to experts. Lessons are offered in packages of five with a five week window, $85 each for private ½ hour. Group lessons can also be arranged.
