In honor of Earth Day 2013, celebrated nationally on April 22, New Canaan Country School (NCCS) will once again host its renowned Deal Days event. This community-wide tag sale, which is open to the public and attracts large crowds, will take place on Saturday, April 20. The event raises critical funds for NCCS Financial Aid.
For a fee of $10, early bird shoppers can gain access to the sale between 8:30am and 9:30am. From 9:30am to 2:30pm, admission will be free. The sale will be held in The Watson Gym on campus and free parking will be available in the school’s main lot located at 545 Ponus Ridge. Shoppers can provide payment in the form of cash or credit (MasterCard and Visa; no American Express). Personal checks will not be accepted. NCCS solicits tag sale donations from the public and all items are tax-deductible. Requested donations include:
Baby Gear: Cribs, cradles, bassinets, changing tables, strollers, carriages, bouncy seats, baby joggers, exersaucers, gyms, quilts, decorative blankets, crib bumpers.
Clothing: (placed on hangers) Men, Women, Children, Infant (exceptions: casual t-shirts, pajamas, undergarments, socks, swimsuits, sneakers, flip-flops, outdated business attire, baseball caps, hair accessories will not be accepted).
Electronic Equipment: TVs 27” or smaller with remote, radios, clock radios, boom boxes, stereo systems (complete), cameras, video cameras (only with instruction booklets), play station, x-box, Wii, DVD players. Computers if unused or in original box.
Exercise Equipment: Paired free weights, exercise/medicine balls, jump ropes (No treadmills)
Higher-end items: Antiques, silver, jewelry, art, area rugs.
Household Accessories: lamps, chandeliers, higher-end vases, platters, frames, mirrors, art, decorative pillows, decorative accessories, window treatments (panels and soft valances), fireplace accessories (nothing flammable), luggage, trunks, area rugs, fabrics, holiday decor.
Household Furniture: Sofas, tables, chairs, dressers, desks, bookcases, bed sets.
Kitchen Equipment: pots, pans, glasses/dishes/plates (in sets of 4 or more), serving pieces, small appliances (please test), sewing machines, power tools.
Linens: Designer or higher end quilts, comforters, blankets, tablecloths, placemats/napkins (in sets of 4 or more), new/unopened linens, sheets and pillowcases.
Media: CDs/DVDs (in cases), books on tape, play station, X-box and Wii games.
Musical Instruments/Equipment: Instruments, music stands, metronomes.
Outdoors and Garden: Lawn furniture, decorative garden pots and urns, garden tools, riding lawn mowers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, weed whackers, wheelbarrows, play houses.
Sporting Goods: Tricycles, bicycles, scooters, sleds, snow shoes, ice skates, rollers skates/blades, cleats, skateboards, golf clubs (full sets only), golf bags, bowling balls, bowling bags, tennis racquets, paddle racquets, squash racquets, badminton sets, croquet sets, baseball bats and gloves, lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks, kayaks, canoes, water skis, windsurfers, tents, lanterns, cook stoves, frame back packs, goals.
